Job Overview

Long established, “family feel” firm with a reputation for excellence seeking a Controller with an active CPA License.

Your responsibilities would include: accounting and financial reporting of the company’s financial transactions including monthly General Ledger close. Providing information for internal distribution and for tax and regulatory filings to local and state agencies including Sales and Use tax filings.


  • Prepare and distribute admin payroll checks Prepare and distribute Annual W2’s
  • Weekly and annual 401K transmittal and reconciliation, compliance reporting
  • Payroll Tax: Weekly Deposits, Quarterly & Annual Returns and reconciliations
  • Cash: Daily Deposits, Weekly Reporting, Monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Month-end close (GL Account Reconciliations, Journal Entries, Management Reports)
  • External Audits (Sales tax, Insurance)
  • Sales & use Tax: Monthly, Quarterly & Annual returns and reconciliations
  • Responsible for general compliance / reporting
  • Fixed assets software
  • Provide functional / technical leadership to personnel within the unit or function directed or served
  • Direct or shared accountability for developing and achieving the revenue, profit and/or operational goals of entity directed or served
  • Regularly interact with senior management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Billing, Purchasing, and Project Managers
  • Receive, interpret and transmit complex strategic and operating information
  • Interact with senior management to keep abreast of function or unit objectives. Interact with other personnel and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs
  • Build and enhance key internal and external contacts


Has expert knowledge of / skills in the content areas of:

  • Accounting processes
  • Designing financial systems and controls
  • Accounting software (Spectrum)
  • Financial analysis and reporting
  • Crystal Reports Software
  • Advanced MS Access experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel experience preferred
  • Advanced spectrum report writing preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with emphasis on privately held entities; Construction experience preferred
  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Accounting degree required, CPA required
